MARSDEN & BANNING ARTS & CRAFTS COMPACTUM c1880-1900

This is a Marsden & Banning of Manchester compactum from the late Victorian period and its my personal wardrobe that I am sadly selling due to me moving house and not measuring properly. This piece is truly outstanding and superior as well as being imposing. It is raised on a plinth base with three doors, either side of the middle is hanging space and a shelf above with the central door opeing and having three drawers to the base section and linen slides to the top. It retains all of its original fittings with turn handles on the doors. It has the classic sunflower motif of the Arts & Crafts movement with the ebony details decoration with ebony turned jewelling to the top of the central door and side doors. This piece is gorgeous and huge but breaks down for movement really well, the main carcass is the three main upright sections with the middle one being slightly wider as it houses the drawers. It retains its original fabric which II have not changed as its original although it has marks on it. It is an easy job to pull it out and put different material in, which II am willing to do, it hasnt been changed as what ever colour II put in will be wrong for someone.
