Beautiful David Edwards Campaign Writing Slope

This is a lovely example of an early Victorian campaign writing slope with a gorgeous figured rosewood by the renown David Edwards, box maker to the King of England.
The writing slope’s interior is lined with a dark green leather skiver. The bottom has a compartment under the skiver that uses a clip to hold it closed. The original ribbons are held in place with brass tacks. The compartment under the top part of the skiver holds a secret compartment of drawers. Please know, the location of the release mechanism is unknown, so I am un ale to provide photos of the drawers. There is a small crack at the bottom of this compartment of which I have taken photos. There are also two areas to the wood that hides the drawers. Someone who also could not find the release mechanism tried to open it up and knocked the wood off.
There are two original ink wells with brass lids. There are no chips or cracks on these. There is a tray and a small lidded area next two where the pen tray is. These are made of rosewood with brass stringing.
There is a Brahma lock but it is not working. The sides of the box have flush brass handles.
The condition of the writing slope is excellent with no missing rosewood veneer.
This is a great example of an early Victorian writing slope. David Edwards was one of the best box makers in the Georgian and Victorian era.
