This is a beautiful hand painted dowry chest with a delightful colour and much charm. The chest is of Carpathian origin and is constructed in the ark manner with stile feet and attractive gabled ends to the panelled lid. The chest is in solid beechwood and has a lovely multi burr figured grain to the interior. The paintwork is typical of this type of really quite rare chest and is in excellent order. The chest is in good sound condition with its original hinges and candle box to the interior. The measurements are 118cm wide 76cm high by 63cm deep.
