Lady seated in a parlour holding a letter with script and possible signature which is also dated 1895.
Maybe French or Prussian in origin and of wonderful quality.
Landscape mural in the background with birds and trees.
She could possibly be a war widow.
The painting is mounted in a superb gilt wood and gesso frame which looks to be original.
