Black Forest Carved Cuckoo Clock


Circa 1870, Black Forest carved cuckoo antique clock surmounted by a carved bird with foliate.
The front has a small door which when open shows a small cuckoo with an articulated mouth and wings. The case is carved pine with rustic decorations on the front and is topped with a fully carved cuckoo. The numbers are Roman numerals and the hands appear to be made of bone. There are 2 winding holes with similar bone bezels.
It is a spring driven cuckoo clock which operates on a pair of bellows with 2 tones. The bellows are made of vellum. The sides of the clock has 2 apertures for the sound and 2 further doors for observation. There is no makers mark. The clock can stand on a mantel or hang on a wall.
