Brass Cake Or Plant Stand 1890-1910 Arts & Crafts

This is a quite unusual and good quality Late Victorian/Arts & Crafts Brass Cake Stand, or Plant Stand. It has a frame of square brass columns, which flare out to plain flat feet. The columns curve out at the top and then curve in and join with a carrying ring. This frame supports three brass trays which are wired onto and supported by an iron triform support underneath them. The trays have a frilled rim and an embossed pattern of harebell swags with ribbon bows and flowers.
This same floral motif of harebell swags, flowers and bows is.continued near the top of the frame and joins the three columns together before they terminate in the ring.
Height: 32 3/4 inches - 83.3cm
Maximum width: 12 inches - 30.5cm
Each tray measured 7 3/4 inches - 19.7cm internal diameter.
Materials: Brass and iron
Condition: Very good. The stand is in good, clean condition, but has one piece which has been repaired. Two of the harebells below the ribbon bow on one of the columns was missing, and this has been repaired with modelling compound and coloured to match. This is the only piece that shouldn't be polished with metal polish or rubbed with wire wool. This has been reflected in the price, although it doesn't notice and will not tarnish.
