Brass Cased Ship's Clock by Negretti & Zambra

A late Victorian brass cased ship’s antique clock with five inch dial by Negretti & Zambra.
This rare and robust clock is in superb order. It has a very substantial brass case which stands at 9cms high from base to front and thick brass bezel containing a half a centimetre thick piece of bevelled glass. The five inch silvered dial is in near mint condition with secondary dial to count seconds and the maker’s name. “Negretti & Zambra, London” just above the winding aperture.
The clock has been recently serviced and is in good working order. The clock comes with original key.
Negretti & Zambra were a leading name in the production of meteorological and scientific instruments and have a company history dating back to 1850. Throughout their long and esteemed history they exhibited at British industrial fairs throughout and became makers to both Queen Victoria and Edward VII. Owing to changes in the business, the firm ceased the public retailing of scientific instruments sometime around the late 1960’s and continued with a focus on the aviation industry in numerous guises until its eventual liquidation in the year 2000.
