c.1900 Black Painted Pine Narrow Chest of Drawers

The late Victorian period pine carcass of narrow proportions with the original period black painted finish having an arrangement of six graduated long drawers with knob handles to each, the top drawer with later swing handles and working lock, the whole sitting on bun feet.
The drawers, which have been baize lined at some stage, glide relatively smoothly, the whole proves sturdy and in good original order. The paintwork, commensurate with age has quite a few areas of flaking and loss, showing the pine underneath, especially to the top, though this is of course part of the appeal. The bun feet have had some work to them and she is a little wobbly on her feet but all the feet are original. The top handles are later, now being cast metal swing handles, though this works aesthetically, and there is a crack to one of the lower knob handles. The key present works for the top lock though the key is bent and appears to be stuck in the escutcheon. We have waxed her to retain the current patina and finish. Essentially she is in very useable order but some light remediation work could be carried out if so desired.
Hugely decorative she proves very desirable with this unusual size and arrangement of drawers.
