#AD181 Victorian / Edwardian era Brass Sewing or Tobacco Box

A lovely oriental themed Chinoiserie decorated brass and wooden antique with beautiful ornamentation of umbrellas, butterflies, swans, vases, flowers, leaves, teapot, bamboo, an ornamented broom and an undefined exotic animal.

This would have been a classic circa 1900 desktop accessory for pens, nibs, stamps, sewing items or tobacco. A pressed brass sheet with handsome brass industrial rivets covers a wooden interior treen box with brass hinges. It was found in Totnes, Devon, England with another old brass string box you can see here. The condition and patina is beautiful.
