Cabin small slide projector. Upgraded to LED.
The Cabin projector would have been a must for portable entertainment in the 1960s. It was small and would easily fit in a briefcase or suitcase.
It used a mains voltage 100 Watt bulb and opened out to place the lens at the right distance from the bulb and the slide being projected. A twin slide carrier which slides back and fore enables one slide to be changed while the other is being shown.
All we have done is to update the light source so that instead of a scalding hot and very easily damaged 100 Watt mains bulb is replaced by a 10 Watt COB (chip on board) LED light source. The cooling for the LED is provided by a small fan-cooled heatsink, which takes the place of the old reflector.
The updated Cabin projector runs on 12 Volts via a power transformer that plugs into the wall socket (supplied with the propjector).
The projector can show 35mm slides as it did before it was modernised (you can buy random slides on sites like Etsy), you can get digital stills transferred to slides, or you can project colours using stage lighting gels, artwork using clear slides and overhead projector pens. The possibilities are, as they say, only limited by the imagination!
