Characterful Welsh Side Table

There is much to like about this little table: the clean lines, almost devoid of decoration, apart from the simplest of shaping to the frieze and the scratch moulding around the two little drawers and edge of the frieze on the sides.
The top, which is beautifully figured and patinated, has great character, the front right hand corner with myriad cuts suggesting it was used for chopping kindling. The positioning of the pulls, set low on the drawers, is charming. The table has twisted over time to compensate for the wear on the two rear legs and this also lends it great charm. The medium brown colour is greatly enhanced by a fine patina.
Probably North Wales, circa 1780-1800. Havard & Havard are committed to holding high standards of practice and thus enable you to have complete confidence in your purchases.
