A rare Gothic Revival red walnut dresser or sideboard designed by Charles Locke Eastlake inscribed in Latin "Comede cum loetitia cibum, et bibe vinum which roughly translates as " Eat food and drink wine with joy".
It is in used condition with several ring marks on the shelves and other marks which I have chosen to leave as it forms part of the original history of the piece. It also has a rich patination.
The last image has been taken from the book Victorian and Edwardian Furniture and Interiors by Jeremy Cooper page 108 illustration 241 showing a period drawing of a similar example.
