This is a beautifully framed marine print entitled 'Life'
by Charles Napier Hemy R.A. R.W.A. (1841 - 1917)
The print is signed & dated (1917)and the printers mark can also be seen.
Hemy painted 2 versions of this picture, one in watercolour, the other in oil. Each version was slightly different in terms of composition. Limited edition prints were made of both paintings, with fewer being made of the oil painting. This print is of the original oil painting.
Hemy was considered to be one of the great marine artists of his time.
