Here we have a stunning Victorian Mahogany chest of drawers c1850. As you can see the chest has outstanding colour and patina. We rarely buy Victorian Chests of drawers but when you come across one this good thay are hard to resist. The top has super grain and colour with a rounded and crossbanded edge. Below there is a curved cushion moulding to make the top unsharp to the eye as a contrast to the base. There is a desirable configuration of two over three drawers. The drawers have raised brass lock escutcheons and beautiful ogee mouldings to the edge. The drawers have Mahogany linings, hand cut dovetail joints and retain their original bun handles. The timbers to the front of the drawers has been carefully chosen for its gentle flame which has been half matched throughout. There are rounded corners and a plinth base with top moulding leading to original squashed bun feet. The drawers have all been re run to the bases so they slide effortlessly. The chest is as good as it gets for the period and is a great size. A super chest in excellent retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 44 inches high 20.5 deep and 42 wide.
