Chest rare George III cabinet makers tool chest
Well what can we say about the most magnificent cabinet makers tool chest we have seen. This fine George III example dates from c1800. The chest carcass is thick Pine and in original scumble paint and sits on its original stand and has hand forged carrying handles. The lid opens to reveal a spectacular fitted interior. This is by far the best we have ever seen. The underside of the lid has a specimen inlaid sunburst. The woods include Mahogany, Satinwood,Ebony,Walnut and Rosewood. These woods are significant as at this period they would have been the woods used in veneers of the antique furniture the cabinet maker was making. There are a multitude of drawers in the interior all with hand cut dovetail joints and and Mahogany venners. The drawers have original handles and again beautiful Satinwood cross banding and box wood stringing. A truly stunning rare cabinet makers chest of the period in great retail condition. The dimensions are approx 40 inches wide 32 high and 24 deep. 23 high without stand.
