Chinese cast iron Fo Dogs / Temple Lions, c1890
A pair of large antique 19th Century Chinese cast iron Fo Dogs/Temple Lions, c1890.
They are well cast and decorated and very heavy. One is slightly taller than the other (by a few cm) but otherwise they are identical. They have aged beautifully with traces of original paint/gilding. They have probably been displayed outside at some point and have extensive signs of rust/Verdigris which again add to their charm and character.
Overall condition is good with only minor surface wear/rubbing/rust and paint loss, all very much as you would expect from examples of this age.
