Deacon of Barton Longcase Clock Hunting Scene. A very desirable 30 Hour Longcase antique clock by the famous Barton Family, of Barton in the Beans Leicestershire, most likely made by Samuel, we have dated this clock around 1800 in a very beautiful short door oak case with lots of lovely inlays and cross banding and reeded columns. The case is in really nice condition. The movement has been completely cleaned and serviced. It is in full working order. The face of this clock is stunning one of the best painted faces on a Deacon clock I have seen. The Arch picture at the top depicts an huntsman on horseback pursuing a fox with a group of hounds and the 4 corners around the chapter ring showing 4 hunting dogs. Its nicely painted and in very good order. The Deacon name is a little rubbed.
For anyone who is interested the Deacon workshop is now on display in the Leicester museum. There is also a book available about the Deacon family and their clocks
