Derby Porcelain Coffee Can Kidney Handle c.1820


A pretty Derby porcelain coffee can with an unusual raised kidney shape handle. Decorated with a wide frieze of a stylized grape vine with underglaze blue leaves and gilt vine, grapes and tendrils. Gilt border either side of the rim, above the foot and as a stripe down the back of a handle. Red painted mark, c.1820.
It measures 6.2cm (2 1/2") high to the rim (8.2cm (3 1/4") to the handle) and 6.5cm (2 9/16") rim to rim.
Condition is very good with no damage or repair. The is some fine crazing and little light discolouration mainly to the handle and across the rim. A small firing line on the inside of the base from manufacture. Very light handling wear. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
