Diminutive 'Marble Bust Of Louisa', Dated 1848

A finely carved diminutive marble bust, c.1848. Inscription to the base though largely worn, the following is legible:
'Marble bust of Louisa...some time about 1848....at the death of her daughter, Alice....the bust is to be given to James Wolfe....'
The bust has an area of historic damage to the right side of the plinth but this does not detract from the form and detail of this piece.
A charming piece of social history.
