Double Fusee Striking English Dial Wall Clock

A simple but attractive oak wall clock.
The substantial, double chain fusee movement with Anchor Recoil escapement and rack striking the hours on a large coiled gong.
Behind an 11" white painted iron dial with outer minute track, Roman hour numerals and the centre being signed for the retailer "HAMILTON & INCHES" and "EDINBURGH". Also having blued steel spade hands and a spun brass, glazed bezel.
The oak case is of good colour and patina with a turned dial surround, rounded bottom with a cockbeaded locking door and two large side doors with silk-backed metal sound frets.
Hamilton and Inches were reknowned as retailers of fine quality items and opened their doors in Edinburgh in 1866. Usually these clocks have a 12" diameter dial and it is unusual for a striking example to have a smaller one. This is a very original clock that has had little if any work carried out to it throughout its life.
