Dutch M1911 Klewang cutlass converted to Japanese

A Dutch Klewang cutlass which was likely issued to Dutch forces in their far east colonies. These cutlasses originally had bowl hand guards but when they were captured in quantity by the Japanese in WW2 they were modified into ‘Heiho’.
The single fullered blade is circa 455mms in length and is generally in good condition. The hilt is made of an early plastic meaning that this is likely to be a late 1930s early 1940s cutlass and this is again is in reasonable condition.
It is complete with a brown leather scabbard with brass fittings and unusually also has a brown leather frog with brass fittings.
An interesting item, all in good used condition as per photographs.
