Early 18th Century Chinoiserie Longcase Clock

A fine Queen Anne cream japanned eight-day longcase clock BY Joshua Hutchin, London, early 18th century.
The movement a good five finned pillar inside countwheel bell striking the hours, all serviced and keeping excellent time.
The face with lovely subtle engraving, an 11 inch square rosette centred brass dial with subsidiary seconds dial, ringed winding holes and triple crown and scroll border engraved calendar aperture to a matted centre within applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with stylised sword hilt.
Half hour markers, Arabic five minutes within the narrow outer track and signed 'Joshua Hutchin, London' to lower margin, the angles applied with winged cherub head and foliate scroll cast spandrels with leafy trail engraved decoration between.
The case a superb cream and polychrome japanned example with Ho-Ho bird decorated caddy to the foliate fretwork fronted box upstand above complex moulded cornice and shaped panel decorated lintel frieze, over three-quarter columns applied to the lattice painted hood door.
The long slim trunk with conforming shaped panel painted convex throat moulding and 41 inch rectangular door centred with a lenticle. Decorated throughout in fine detail of polychrome and gilt with figures in an oriental garden landscape over flowering shrub with exotic birds within a trellis painted surround, the sides with elaborate flowering foliage and game birds, the plinth with conforming shaped panel painted with figural landscape over moulded double skirt.
Some damage to the paintwork evident from the images, and old restorations.
A Joshua Hutchin is recorded in Loomes, Brian The Early CLOCKMAKERS of Great Britain as `having served his time in Liverpool` and becoming a Free Brother of the Clockmaker`s Company in 1683. He paid quarterage up until at least 1705 but probably died soon after.
Also noted a James & Joshua Hutchin(g)(s), his father? noted clockmakers company 1698-1722.
