Early 19thC Mahogany Toilet Mirror
This is a good example of a late Georgian Toilet Mirror, in very nice condition throughout.
The case has fine figured mahogany veneer, well picked out with ebony and boxwood stringing around the top edge. It stands on shaped ogee bracket feet. The drawers have a deep fronted, stepped and concave profile and their original finely cut soft wood linings. The centre drawer has a working lock and key. Very good colour and patination. Wax finish.
The mirror frame and mechanism for releasing, and swivelling the mirror is all sound and in very good order. The mirror plate is original. The silvered backing is spotted and worn and grey in hue.
Condition: Very good throughout. The mirror plate is usable, but dark and has marks & loss. A new mirror glass could be fitted for general use, but the original should be kept safe for authenticity.
