Early 20th C Dividers, Johann Faber, c.1900-1930

Here we have a fine quality pair of early 20th Century Steel Dividers or Compasses in their original box by Johann Faber. The dividers come complete with their sheath to protect the sharp tips and their branded box featuring an image of the dividers and the crossed hammers logo of Johann Faber.
Johann Faber was the youngest of three Faber brothers who started work at A.W. Faber, the family's pencil company and then left in 1878 to set up his own company based in Nuremberg. For many years in the late 19th and early 20th centuries his firm outperformed the original company, by now renamed Faber-Castell, but the economic depression of the late 1920s led to the two companies merging and by the end of the 1930s the Johann Faber name had disappeared.
Condition is very good, with the top hinge working smoothly. The box has a few scuffs but that's not surprising after around 100 years of service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The dividers are 14.5cm long and weigh 35.8g (unboxed).
The front of the hinge is marked Johann Faber, Bavaria.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
