Early 20th C. Silver Plate Sugar Bowl, Atkin Bros

This is a smart Early 20th Century Silver Plate Sugar Bowl. The bowl is circular with a bulbous base, tapered body and two scrolling handles. The front of the bowl is neatly engraved Thorley's Special Prize.
Thorley's were very successful agricultural suppliers from the late 19th century up until the early 1950s, particularly well known for their high quality cattle feed. In order to promote their products they supplied a variety of different competition prizes to be awarded at agricultural shows up and down the country. These were almost invariably silver plate and made by the renowned firm Atkin Brothers of Sheffield.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, no significant plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bowl measures 12.2cm / 4.8ins from handle to handle, 8cm / 3.1ins in diameter and 8.5cm / 3.3ins high. It weighs 221.1g / 7.8oz.
The underside of the base is stamped EPNS for silver plate, HA, EA, FA for the Atkin Brothers and has their trademark of a hand holding three ostrich feathers.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
