Early 20th Century Thonet Bentwood Armchair
Thonet bentwood armchair/desk chair No 18 by Michael Thonet, early 20th century and manufactured in Austria. Made of beech having a backrest of a larger curved outer hoop, with a smaller curved inner hoop converging at the top and connects at the bottom to the circular seat. The original seat was rattan, but at some point in its life the chair has had a padded seat fitted. Newly upholstered with antique leather.
In good condition, all joints are tight.

48cm Seat Height Our stock items are carefully selected by myself and I only buy good quality items which may need small repairs, a clean and a polish. I don't buy any items that need major restoration, but any loose joints are re-glued. Occasionally, some items may have small amounts of historic extinct woodworm, never enough to affect the integrity of the item, and is always treated as a matter of course. We try to describe and show our items the best we can, and we use studio lighting which sometimes lightens the colour slightly on some of the furniture. All lamps are rewired and PAT tested. Every item we sell we would have in our home (some of them have been!!) It is impossible to describe every item fully, so please feel free to email or call for more information or any queries you may have. The items will have no major defects but will show signs of normal age related wear and use. I would prefer the items to show its life rather than strip it and re-polish it, as it's only original once!
