Early 20th.c. carved oak box settle or hall bench c.1930. High backrest with a shaped cresting rail carved with a lion’s mask over five panels with Renaissance style grotesque dolphin and foliate patten carvings. Shaped and carved arms on turned supports over a panelled seat which lifts to reveal useful storage below ideal for boots and shoes etc. Further carving to the front of the base, plus fielded panels at the sides. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
