An Early Georgian period Hook and Spike lantern antique clock made by John Fryof Sutton(Oxon).10"brass and silvered dial with spun centre in the style of Gilkes.Single pointer to the bell striking anchor escapement movement.very original.Full working order.Measures 6"deep x 42"maximum drop to pendulum.
John Fry was apprenticed to Gilkes the Quaker clockmakers of Oxfordshire.This clock bears many trademarks including the spun centre to the dial.
