This is an early Victorian period chinoiserie lacquered antique jewellery box of sarcophagus form dating from around 1850. The box has beautiful hand gilded decoration and mother of pearl inlay depicting pagodas and bridges across an island landscape with a Chinese fisherman on his vessel. The box is beautifully detailed and is in nice original condition with a fitted interior and raised on squat turned bun feet.
The box measures 31 cms wide 11 cms high by 26 cms deep.
