A stunning and very rare hand painted tin glazed Carter tile from the Sporting Series designed by Edward Bawden. Originally designed by Bawden in 1922, this is from the second issue in 1951. There were 6 tiles in the series showing a range of typically British 1920's leisure pursuits. The tile is in excellent condition with the usual fine feint crazing seen on most of these tiles. A couple of minute fleabites on the edge but barely worth a mention. It measures 6 inches x 6 inches (15.5cm) and .5 inch (1.1 cm) deep.
