Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Edwardian solid beech, birch & elm revolving office armchair, circa 1901 - 1910, in excellent original condition. Incorporating a “smoker’s bow” design, the armchair features a comfortable curved bar back, supported by vertical back splats, connected to wrap around arms, raised on shaped arm supports. The back and arms connect to an elm saddle shaped seat, displaying lovely grain configuration. The chair has also been cleaned and French polished, by hand, to a professional standard, therefore the colour and patination is of an excellent standard. The chair sits on four splayed solid beech legs that terminate on the original steel roller ball castors. The chair incorporates a revolving cast iron mechanism and it rotates 360 degrees. The seat does not recline and it is not height adjustable – many Victorian and early Edwardian office chairs were constructed this way. The chair mechanism has been cleaned, restored and serviced and is in excellent working order. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on, as it features a lovely shaped seat.

The armchair features a mellow colour. It has a lovely colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This Edwardian desk chair would look superb in a variety of rooms in the home, especially the office or study as it is so comfortable. This item would certainly grace any home. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.

Condition Report:
This Edwardian solid beech, birch & elm desk armchair and mechanism is in excellent condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair frame and joints have bene glued to ensure it is solid in joint. The chair boasts a lovely mellow beech, birch & elm colour, having been cleaned and professionally French polished, by hand, in our workshop. The original cast iron revolving mechanism is in good working order, having just been cleaned, restored and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The chair features the original steel roller ball castors, which are also in good condition. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
