Description
Here is a stunning quality and unusual antique Edwardian mahogany inlaid revolving under bookcase table, circa 1900, in excellent original condition. The design of the table was taken from the Regency period. The top boasts a stunning inlaid marquetry top with parallel satinwood inlay rings to the outer section and beyond is a moulded edge with further satinwood string inlay on the outer edge of the table. Below, a central reeded twist column supports an exquisite rotating inlaid gallery, interspersed by fine turned rails and supporting ring turned spindles. The gallery has four divisions and can be used for storing books and magazines. Further below, is another turned section to the central column and three splayed legs, which are inscribed with a geometric design. There is inset floral carvings to the tops of the legs. The central column terminates with a reverse turned finial. The table stands on its original small castors and the bookcase section can rotate 360 degrees. The table is also designed to dismantle into three sections. All in all, this is one of the finest examples of a bookcase under table, we have seen for a very long time.
This item features a rich mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room or office. The desk would certainly grace any home or office and a great investment, as they are an extremely functional. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
