Edwardian Scent Bottle with Silver Sleeve, 1901

This is an elegant Edwardian Green Glass Lavender Water Bottle in a Sterling Silver Sleeve. The bottle has an original label from the Crown Perfume Co of London for Finest Double Distilled Lavender Water and a cork stopper. The silver sleeve has a pierced scrolling design with a blank cartouche on the front.
The silver sleeve was made in Birmingham by Henry Matthews and dates to 1901. Henry Matthews registered his mark in 1893 and ran his firm from premises in Vittoria Street in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter. He made a very wide range of good quality silverware, particularly dressing table and desk items, and remained in business up until around 1930.
Condition is extremely good, with no chips or cracks in the glass and no dings, dents or damage to the silver sleeve, just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 120 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bottle is 19cm / 7.5ins high and 3.9cm / 1.5ins across. The sleeve by itself weighs in at a very respectable 30.2g / 1.06oz of solid Sterling Silver and all together the bottle and sleeve weigh 127.4g / 4.49oz.
The hallmarks, on the top band of the sleeve, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter b for 1901 and the H M makers' mark for Henry Matthews.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
