An elegant antique fully hallmarked solid gold keepsake locket which was assayed (tested for purity) at Chester Assay Office in 1908. One side is embellished with a shield cartouche, forget-me-nots and ivy leaves. The other side is ornamented with acanthus and ivy leaves and forget-me-not flowers.

The shield represents the desire of the donor to protect the recipient. Ivy leaves symbolise fidelity, deep friendship and loyalty. Forget-me-nots represent deep love and respect. Acanthus leaves symbolise everlasting life. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The interior locket is lined with black moire and fitted with one of the original frames.

This piece is suspended from an ornate necklace.
