Nice Quality Freestanding Medieval Revival Oak Writing Table by Edwards and Roberts.
The rectangular top with inset gilt tooled leather over a well carved frieze with two drawers to one side. All raised on four corkscrew turned legs with bulbous capitals and square ankles over cup feet enclosing the original brass and ceramic castors. The legs joined by conforming stretchers.
English: Victorian Circa 1880-90
NOTE: Edwards and Roberts were London based retailers, dealers and manufacturers of fine and antique furniture. They were established in 1845 and had various premises in London. Their clients included HM Queen Victoria, Various nobility and Bishops and Tsar Nicholas II. The firm closed in 1899.
