Description: This is a fine quality English 17th century style pair of single beds, constructed form solid figured oak, circa 1980, in excellent original condition. These oak beds fit a standard UK single size mattress (3ft” wide x 6ft 3” long). The mattress can either sit on the wooden slats, or on a sprung box base if more height is preferred (the beds are supplied with wooden slats only as seen in the photos). The design of the pair of single beds takes is influence from the late English 17th century period, with the large acorn finials, moulded stiles and rails, incorporating the traditional mortise and tenon peg construction method. The tall headboard comprises four figured oak chamfered panels, with the same design replicated in the footboard, featuring two chamfered panels. The bed frames are supported by sturdy block legs, with chamfered detail below a large acorn finial in each corner. The moulded side rails are secured to the head and footboard with large steel bolts behind circular decorative oak caps. The pair of single beds come with wooden slats which are connected by webbing to the underside, preventing them from sliding back and forth under the mattress. This pair of twin oak beds dismantle for easy transportation, as seen in the photos.
The pair of single beds retains the original polish. The oak boasts a rich colour and patination. This English twin set of single beds would look stunning in either a contemporary or traditional setting.

Condition This is a fine quality English 17th century style pair of single beds, constructed form solid figured oak, circa 1980, in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of them. There are no breaks or missing sections to the bed frames. The pair of single beds has been cleaned and professional wax-polished in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard. This pair of 18th century single beds are heavy, solid in joint and are ready to use.
