English Antique Oak Garden Seat/Bench by Goodyer.
English Antique Oak High Back Settle by Goodyer.
This 19th century antique bleached oak seat is very much made in the manner of the Arts & Crafts style.
The settle has spent it's life on a veranda of a large country house in Herefordshire which is why the oak has taken on a lovely silvered finish, but as it was protected the oak timber is as strong as when it was first made.
The oblong seat pad has been newly upholstered in 100% Scottish wool fabric.
An unusual designed antique high back settle, the front legs taper upwards into the arm supports which have flat caps.
The back rest slats are nicely moulded with the top rail being shaped, along here you can see the peeved method of construction quite clearly.
