Dating to around 1860, this is a handsome desk-top accessory, perfect for the office, home office or library. Made from exotic and striking Coromandel, this is a quality example with a double plinth and the ends beautifully decorated with thick brass mounts, all professionally re-polished to gleam.

What makes this one stand out is the decorative fine reticulated or pierced brass overlaid over the thick cast brass below.

Each of the ends is cut-out, the bookends doubling as a book carrier.

A top-notch large example in excellent condition, with the bookends expanding from 14 1/4" to 20 1/2". The footprint of the bookslide measures 14 1/4" x 6 1/2".
