This painting is one of two that Eric Rimmington exhibited at the R.A. in 1957. The other painting 'The Spa - Scarborough' was mentioned briefly by John Russell in The Sunday Times, 5th May, 1957. Born in Portsmouth in 1926, Eric Rimmington studied at the Southern College of Art, Portsmouth (1942-44 and 1947-49) and the Slade School, London (1949 - 52). He has exhibited widely in many solo and group exhibitions from 1950 to the present day. A hand written letter by Eric Rimmmington related to the painting will be included in the sale.
