Excellent Satsuma Charger JAPANESE SATSUMA
A super quality Satsuma bowl, in overall excellent condtion.
Satsuma china, or Satsuma ware, originates from the Satsuma Province in southern Kyūshū, Japan. Specifically, it's known for its earthenware pottery, with early forms made in dark clay and later elaborately decorated pieces, particularly those produced in the 19th century for export. The Shimazu clan's control over the region, known as Satsuma-han, is also associated with the pottery's name.
