An exceptional Brigg walking stick / walking cane with an 18 carat gold band which is fully hallmarked for London 1908. On the band is inscribed JBC 1908, which will presumably be the original owner.
It is probably one of the best walking canes I have come across in several years.
On the stick is a finely carved grumpy looking monkey sitting on a tree stump and who is guarding and clasping a nut in its hand. I believe the monkey is carved in walnut.
The shaft of the cane is made from malucca and has been shaped to resemble bamboo. There is a singe mark to the base. The ferrule is a new replacement.
The stick is 90cms long.
