This exceptional quality brass bed will take a mattress 5'6" wide x 6'6" long, making it very suitable for current requirements.

The bed was made by Hoskins & Sewell of Birmingham, one of the foremost manufacturers of brass beds in the world. H&S supplied beds to ocean liners, including the Titanic, and by the end of the 19th century had stores in London and New York The firm was acquired by Neville Chamberlain in 1897, who later became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. This wonderful bed was retailed by Maple & Co of Tottenham Court Road, London and has the remnant of the Maples label at the foot. The impressed mark of H&S can be seen on both the head and the foot of the bed.

This bed is in excellent condition and very heavy (it takes 2 people to carry each end) but once put together it can be rolled on its casters. The brass scrolling and decoration is second to none. The overall height at the head is 68.5" (174 cm) and at the foot 52.5" (133 cm).
