Extremely rare antique Lady Esther compact
Extremely rare antique Lady Esther compact
The compact is made from 'heavy brass' & shows 'the representation of a lady standing in the background wearing a costume of an early period with a broad flaring skirt. Before her, kneeling, are two girl pages supporting a pillow on which is a box of powder and a powder puff, and below the figures are the words “Lady Esther”'. The date of this compact is between 1922 - 1925 as the Armand Company began to sue all vanity companies using the hooped skirt girl as a logo and so this logo was only used for a few years by the Lady Esther Company.The compact opens & closes well. The mirror is good. Obviously as you can see from the pictures this compact does look 92 years of age. However, this does not spoil the enjoyment at all. I feel delighted to have this rare antique compact in my collection. The value is not in the condition but the once in a life time opportunity to acquire such a rare vanity. Put simply - this IS compact history! This antique compact measures just over 2 1/2" & weighs 44.1 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
