F. Chesterton Oil Painting Still Life Amaryllis
We are offering for sale this large oil on board by the artist F. Chesterton. This painting is unsigned, but it is undoubtedly by the same hand as the signed companion painting that we are also listing. We would date these paintings to 1930-1950.
The painting depicts some red and white amaryllis flowers, some in full flower and some buds, with a group of orchids in the foreground and below them two white heads of hydrangea.
We have been unable to discover any biographical information about the artist in our reference books or online, so the paintings will have to stand on their merits. These large paintings would look stunning in any setting, both period and modern.
The painting is framed in a 2 7/8" ornate frame, which is probably the original.
