F.E.Jamieson 19C Oil Scottish Waterfall

1 of 6
This painting is a lovely portrait shaped oil on canvas by the artist FRANCIS E. JAMIESON, who flourished between 1885 and 1940, signed with his pseudonym Joel Owen in the lower right hand corner and dated 1926. The painting depicts a Scottish waterfall in the morning light. This is one of a pair of paintings by this artist that we are offering for sale.
This artist is listed in Jeremy Wood's excellent book 'Hidden Talents' and we quote
'Painter in oil and watercolour of highland landscapes and coastal scenes. The work of this highly prolific artist is curious since the oils and watercolours have two quite distinctive styles and subject matter. The oil paintings are most frequently seen and these are highland landscapes or loch scenes - sometimes they appear to be signed with pseudonyms such as W. Richards and Phil Hips and the location is usually inscribed on the reverse. Jamieson is known to have travelled widely in the South of England between the wars selling his work but does not appear to have exhibited.'
Some of the pseudonyms used by this artist include the above, as well as Joel Owen, A. de Perrin, Arnould Pienne, Aubrey Ramus, G.McGregor, Henry Stewart, H.B.David, Stanley Penn, Henry Cooper, H. James, Stanley Graham, J. H. Boel, Graham Williams, Walter Lewis and A. Lewis.
Apart from the auction listings for F.E.J. and his other pseudonyms, we have found the following under the name of Joel Owen artprice.com (175 listings), findartinfo.com (80) and artnet.com (39).
The painting has been newly framed in a 3" gilt frame to complement and is ready to hang.
