A beautiful fifties era Stratton ballet themed powder compact. Depicted on the lid is a scene taken from a Cecil Golding portrait named Gaiety. The enamel lid decoration is in good condition. There isn't any loss of enamel or fading.

There are signs of use/age on the mirror, the inner lid and the base.

The compact is decorated with a gilt finish which has a deep rich golden patina. The mirror gives a good and accurate reflection. The mirror bezel is signed STRATTON MADE IN ENGLAND. The inner lid is also signed Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND. All catches and hinges work perfectly. The compact is in good condition. The original sifter is in place it has been sanitised and so it is free of powder residue, as is the compact. The base is decorated with a fine spiral. Measures 3 1/4 inches diameter. Weighs 123.3 grams.

This compact is ideal as a display collectible or for use with loose face powder.
