Figured Walnut And Marble Top Commode
A very decorative and well proportioned French figured walnut commode with marble top, circa 1860 and in lovely original condition.
The chest has four drawers, one of which is hidden up in the shaped frieze under the marble, all running smoothly and the key is used as a drawer pull...however, if you would rather have a set of suitable period style handles to be fitted, just let me know and I can show you some options.
The figured walnut grain is "book matched" in the centre and runs the full width to the front, with more figured walnut to the sides too.
This will give you great bedroom storage if that is what you need, but these French commodes also work really well as hall consoles, dining room servers etc.
Fabulous colour and a really good decorative antique.
Measurements:
39 1/4 inches or 99.5 cm high
50 3/4 inches or 129 cm wide
23 1/2 inches or 60 cm deep Based in Uppingham, Rutland…having been in the business for 25 years focusing on mostly French and English decorative antiques and interiors from the 18th to the early 20th century, hopefully a collection you will enjoy browsing and hopefully re home some of my finds!
