Filing Cabinet Cupboard by William Angus & Co, London

Antique Edwardian Oak Filing Cabinet Cupboard by William Angus & Co, London 1910
Circa 1910
Manufactured by William Angus & Co of London.
William Angus & Co Ltd imported, designed and manufactured office and household furniture in the late 19th and early 20th century.
This charming solid oak example is named 'The Record Filing Cabinet' - Designed to keep all your paper records safe in one location.
The unit features a bank of 16 drawers, all with the original brass plate index label holders.
The drawers can all be opened fully and operate on a mechanism so they drop down to allow full access without having to be pulled out of the cabinet.
The drawers retain all the original sprung paper filing clips with alphabetical filing divider cards and most still having the manufactures labelling.
The pictures on the manufactures label show the unit as having a cupboard at the base with only a bank of 12 drawers.
This example stands upon an oak stand with 16 drawers so it is likely just another variant they manufactured.
It could be possible that someone has at a later date adjusted it to be on a stand, if so, the stand matches and fits perfect.
The cabinet has several labels attached from a company called 'Stuart Learmonth'
This company is a film and TV prop hire business - So it is likely this cabinet has featured in several tv shows and films.
A truly wonderful piece to add that antique charm to any home.
