Fine 19th Century Walnut Wing Armchair

A very good 19th Century walnut wing armchair with handsome cabriole legs, hand carved with scallop shells and drop bell husks to the knees and beautifully scrolled ears.
The front legs terminate in broad and well carved trifid feet, the back legs shaped and stepped all in the George I manner of the 1720s. With a wide seat and good rake to the back, original squab cushion and well padded throughout, the chair is very comfortable and has been re-upholstered in the last 60-80 years, the fabric in remarkably good original condition with some fading but with no noticeable wear or pulls. A deeply patterned and heavyweight bronze/green wool mix.
The chair has its original Victorian springing which is still in excellent condition and labelled ‘Island Upholstery, 66 Pyle Street, Newport, Isle of Wight’.
No breaks or repairs or scuffs/damage, small tear to the black dust fabric underneath the chair.
