A Fine George III period mahogany cushion top bracket antique clock.c.1760. Made by Devereaux Bowly of London(working 1696-1773). Brass and silvered arched top dial with date aperture and gilt spandrels to the corners. 8 Day double fuse driven verge escapement movement striking on a bell to the hour. Finely engraved back plate to the movement. Glazed sides with fretwork panels, gilt work to the top of the arched case door. Cushion top complete with brass top handle and gilt finials.Standing on bracket feet. Full working order. Measures 11" x 8" x 21"high.
Devereaux Bowly working 1745-72. Listed as a master in 1759. Well known antique clock maker of repeating antique clocks.(Ref: Brittons clockmakers).
